Balinese Paralympic Powerlifting Hero Prepares for Asian Games in Korea

For the last 3 months Balinese powerlifting sensation Ni Nengah Widiasih has been in Solo, Java preparing for the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

Nengah is a poster girl for both Rotary Canggu and for Rotary International’s global mission to eradicate polio. Rotary Club of Bali Canggu is proud to co-sponsor this remarkable young woman, from one of Bali’s poorest villages, to fulfil her dream of winning gold at the Brazil 2016 Paralympic Games. Through sheer determination she has achieved a ranking of 3rd in the world, truly remarkable given the sub-optimal facilities she has had available to her thus far.

Nengah has competed in such events as the 2012 London Paralympics and the Dubai World Powerlifting Championships. She already is a powerful role model and inspiration to disabled people all over the world, demonstrating how against all odds they can succeed in whatever their chosen path may be.

In this months Asian Games in Korea, Nengah hopes to consolidate her world ranking ready for the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016. Rotary Canggu and all of Bali will be rooting for her every step of the way.
