Our club early on identified the lack of safe, supervised, conducive public play spaces as an issue in our community. Providing spaces where children can meet and mix and learn and bond in safety, while participating in activities that offer learning and self-development was one of our club’s founding goals.
Among our membership, and in Rotary at large, there is a lot of positive experience in creating skate parks which serve not only skateboarders but the community as a whole. We are fortunate to have Julian Zielonka, a professional in outdoor recreation, among our membership, and his colleague at Deus Ex Machina, Dustin Humphrey. With their energies and experience and resources, we are moving closer to creating the first public skate-play-learn park for the local community here.
After extended discussions and negotiations, land has been secured adjacent to Deus Ex Machina in Canggu where the first of these parks can be created. Stay tuned for further developments, and ride on!
