Nurturing sustainability with life skills via Permaculture
Families from poor villages in Karangasem regency and other impoverished parts of Bali have long been drawn to urban areas like Denpasar, seeking a more fruitful life. However, lacking the necessary skills, they end up marginalised, begging on the streets and scavenging around the garbage dumps. They are generally malnourished, poorly educated and lacking in life skills. There are high incidences of physical and mental disability in some of these families as a result of pregnant women being malnourished.
This project will enable these overlooked, unfortunate people to learn very basic skills within the parameters of sustainable living in a hands-on format. The sustainable living skills will include farming, waste management, home and farm structural design, in addition to leadership and management abilities.
